Darwin Peters | Self Taught Artist
Darwin Peters is a self taught artist from Pikangikum First Nation, who started painting in 2006 when their cousin passed away, whom was very close.
As Darwin says: "Something made me to paint. Many times I wasted blank papers and pencils; I would sit down for hours and hours till I was tired of drawing. The one who inspired me with art is Norval Morrisseau, with his bright colours. On the year 2011 I was enjoying my sleep till I was woken up that 2 of my older siblings got into an accident, that’s where it hit me hard hearing the news that my sister and brother-in-law didn’t make it, I stopped drawing/painting for a year. After a year has passed I started to draw and paint again because I needed it and I wanted to meet other artists, I want people all over the world to know what I do and share my stories through art."
